A Community in Mourning – The small community of Rock Hill, South Carolina, is reeling from the tragic loss of Mica Miller, the 30-year-old wife of local pastor Aaron Miller. Mica’s life was cut short on April 27, 2024, in a devastating turn of events, leaving loved ones and community members searching for answers.
On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at around 2:54 p.m., a female called the Robeson County E911 Communications Centre. The caller requested the operator whether her phone could be located because she intended to commit suicide and wanted her family to be able to find her body. During the talk with the dispatcher, the caller hung up the phone, and the dispatcher was unable to reach him. The dispatcher was able to locate the caller and despatched a deputy.
When the officers arrived at Lumber River State Park in Orrum, North Carolina, they phoned the park superintendent. Deputies and State Park Rangers searched the area for the victim. A drone operated by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search. During the inquiry, a black Honda Accord with a South Carolina registration was found at the State Park parking lot. Mica Miller, 30, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was identified by detectives as the owner of the automobile.
Investigators discovered a Sig Sauer gun case in the vehicle’s passenger seat, as well as a box of ammo in the centre console. Investigators discovered a pawn shop ticket for the Sig Sauer weapon as well as a convenience store receipt in the vehicle. Both receipts were dated the same day that Miller died (April 27, 2024). During the search for the 911 caller in the park, investigators were approached by someone who had discovered a bag along the water’s edge with Miller’s identity. While fishing, the guy claimed to have heard someone weeping and a gunshot.
Law officers continued their search, and E911 received a report from someone who stated that a body had been found in the water. After locating the deceased, law enforcement reacted and notified the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office. Mica Miller has been identified as the victim.
During the investigation, a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun was discovered in the water near the crime site. The serial number on the weapon matched the gun box discovered in Miller’s Honda Accord.
“During the investigation, Miller’s phone and other personal things were found. A examination of Miller’s phone revealed that she searched Google for “national parks near me” and was given the Lumber River State Park location.
Investigators discovered through interviews that John Paul Miller was attending an athletic event in Charleston on the day Mica Miller died. On April 27, 2024, at 2:22 p.m., John Miller’s vehicle was detected travelling on the Horry County Highway 17 Bypass. The inquiry confirmed that John Miller was accompanied to and from the event in Charleston, South Carolina.
