MUMBAI, India — Tishaa Kumar, the 20-year-old daughter of actor and producer Krishan Kumar, passed away on Thursday, July 18, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Kumar was the heiress to the T-Series music label, which her father co-owns with her uncle, Bhushan Kumar.
“Tishaa Kumar, daughter of Krishan Kumar, passed away yesterday after a prolonged battle with an illness,” a T-Series spokesperson said in a statement on Friday morning. “This is a difficult time for the family, and we kindly request that the family’s privacy is respected.”
Born on September 6, 2003, Tishaa was less than two months shy of her 21st birthday at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Krishan Kumar and Tanya Singh, the daughter of composer Ajit Singh and sister of actress Nattasha Singh.
Despite being part of a prominent Bollywood family, Tishaa maintained a low profile and very little information about her is publicly available. She was, however, often seen at film screenings produced by T-Series and was known to be a film enthusiast. One of her last public appearances was in November 2023 when she attended the premiere of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer “Animal.”
Tishaa had been battling cancer for several years and was receiving treatment in Germany, where she ultimately succumbed to the disease. Sources close to the family said that she had been based in Germany for her treatment and that her family had ensured she received the best possible care. Despite their efforts and those of the doctors, they were unable to save her.
Krishan Kumar is best known for his role in the 1995 movie “Bewafa Sanam.” As a producer, he has co-produced several blockbuster films, including “Lucky: No Time For Love,” “Ready,” “Darling,” “Airlift,” and “Satyamev Jayate.” Along with Bhushan Kumar, he has produced films such as “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” and “Animal.”
The news of Tishaa’s passing has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood community, with many expressing their grief and offering condolences to the family.
